The museum was established by restoring the historical buildings with the extraordinary efforts of our esteemed teacher Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin and the prime Minister of the period, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan to mobilize all kinds of opportunities in Gülhane Park.

More than 700 works are exhibited in the museum and the development is continued by adding new artifacts every year.

The museum is an innovation in its field by presenting the inventions and discoveries of Muslim scientists which has been a gift for mankind for centuries as well as by presenting a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of history of science in different disciplines. The works are exhibited in a systematic order in astronomy, geography, shipping, time measurement, geometry, optics, medicine, chemistry, mineralogy, physics, architecture, technical and warfare techniques. The works are showing great discoveries and tremendous inventions in the history of science in Islam together with offering its visitors in clear way to explore how these discoveries and inventions have been accepted and taken into Europe in different ways in exquisite visuality. Thus, museum proofs the history of science being a whole with a complete objectivity by being away from feelings and prejudices.
